Neuro-metabolic disorders are genetic disorders due in most cases to an enzymatic deficiency. They mainly affect the central nervous system. These pathologies, often with an early expression, are well known by pediatricians. Nevertheless, in the last years, late forms with an insidious and non-specific beginning have been discovered more and more frequently. Psychiatric symptoms can remain isolated for several years, which further delays the diagnosis. The purpose of this work is to recall, through a case of metachromatic leukodystrophy (MLD), characteristics of psychiatric symptomatology in neuro-metabolic diseases and to emphasise the interest in early detection of these disorders.
